Katherine "Katie" Cary, LPC-Associate #99279
Supervised by Lacey Castilleja Fisher, LPC-S, PMH-C, RST-C/T #68983 Katie (she/her) works with people navigating trauma, medical trauma, religious trauma, anxiety, depression, neurodivergence, behavioral concerns, and challenges related to family dynamics. She is committed to providing an affirming, inclusive environment where clients of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences feel respected, valued, and safe to be themselves. Life can feel overwhelming at times, and it's easy to believe we have to carry our struggles alone. Katie believes that healing begins with connection and that no one should have to navigate life's challenges without support. Whether you're facing a difficult part of life, adjusting to a major life transition, or simply trying to make sense of your experiences, Katie strives to create a space where you feel welcomed, understood, and accepted exactly as you are. |
Katie recognizes that every person's story is unique and believes therapy should reflect that. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, she tailors each client's treatment to their individual goals, needs, and strengths. Her work is grounded in person-centered, attachment, systems, and trauma-informed approaches, and she incorporates expressive arts and sandtray therapy when they best support a client's growth and healing.
At the heart of Katie's work is the belief that the relationship between a client and therapist is one of the most meaningful parts of the healing process. She believes that when people feel genuinely seen, heard, and accepted, they are better able to explore difficult experiences, recognize their own resilience, and create lasting change. Katie approaches each session with warmth, authenticity, and curiosity, meeting clients where they are while gently encouraging growth at a pace that feels right for them.
Katie also believes that healing doesn't happen in isolation. When appropriate and with a client's consent, she enjoys collaborating with parents, teachers, schools, physicians, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and other professionals involved in a client's care. She values a team-based approach that helps create consistency, strengthens progress, and supports clients both inside and outside the therapy room.
Katie received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Minor in Professional Health Careers from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, and her Master of Science in Professional Counseling with an emphasis in Children, Adolescents, and Parenting from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. She has completed Levels 1 and 2 of Child-Centered Play Therapy training and is committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care while continuing to grow as a clinician.
