Sandtray Play Therapy for Survivors of Sexual Abuse: for all ages & other multicultural considerations

Unfortunately sexual abuse is a common experience for children and it has a lasting impact on individuals throughout their lifespan. Sandtray play therapy is a great tool for survivors of sexual abuse/trauma and can be used for children, teens and adults alike. This workshop will teach sandtray play therapy skills to use with survivors of all ages while keeping multicultural considerations in mind.
Objectives:
Review overview of the dynamics of childhood sexual abuse;
Discover how sandtray play therapy is developmentally appropriate for coping with childhood sexual abuse for clients of all ages through case conceptualization; Learn ways to use sandtray play therapy to promote self-care, emotional safety, reprocessing, and integration of traumatic events;
Identify other techniques to add to sandtray play therapy work such as EMDR & TF-CBT
View and discuss themes of actual client’s sandtrays that are undergoing sandtray play therapy treatment;
Learn how multicultural factors impact the dynamics of childhood sexual abuse.
