2. Learn the dynamics experienced in the NICU that impact the mental health of the parents
3. Explore clinical interventions that will help support families that are experiencing postpartum PTSD or other perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.
Perinatal Mental Health 101
Perinatal mental health is so important yet not talked about enough. This workshop will explore an overview of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. Multicultural topics will be discussed to meet the 3 hours cultural competency requirements needed to licensure renewal.

2. Identify risk factors for developing perinatal mood and anxiety disorders

A Loss is a Loss: Dynamics of Perinatal Loss
Perinatal grief and loss is an area that most mental health professionals do not feel equipped to provide counseling for. This training will explore common dynamics and themes that are experienced with perinatal grief and loss and will offer a discussion on ways to witness stories of perinatal loss.
Objectives:
1. Learn the different types of grief
2. Identify the different types of perinatal loss
3. Explore the dynamics and common themes/thoughts of the parent with perinatal loss
4. Review themes common in pregnancy after loss
5. Briefly discuss common themes in working with couples with perinatal loss

Perinatal Mental Health and Trauma 101
This presentation will explore the symptoms and triggers of post-traumatic stress and how that effects mental health in the perinatal period. Participants will learn how symptoms from traumatic experiences at any point in life can be re-activated during pregnancy and/or childbirth, identify different types of trauma, and gain awareness of multicultural considerations when working with special populations. Participants will also learn clinical considerations, interventions, and resources and process specific case examples. Multicultural topics will be discussed to meet the 3 hours cultural competency requirements needed to licensure renewal.

Perinatal Mental Health and Sexual Abuse
Childhood sexual abuse has major impacts on one's life, not only in childhood, but over the lifespan. Often, people are unaware that the effects of sexual abuse will often resurface in the perinatal period. This presentation will explore the unique dynamics that survivors of sexual abuse may encounter during their reproductive journey and in parenthood.
Objectives:
1. Identify common symptoms of childhood sexual abuse
2. Review how symptoms of sexual abuse can present in the perinatal period
3. Discuss ways clinicians can facilitate survivors in coping with lingering trauma from sexual abuse
4. Explore case examples of survivors in various stages of their reproductive/parental journey
Fertility and 3rd Party Reproduction 101
Objectives:
1. Discuss common themes for those with fertility struggles
2. Explore the types of grief and loss associated with infertility
3. Identify various coping skills to use with clients
4. Review the basic dynamics around 3rd party reproduction
5. Learn when it is appropriate and necessary to refer to a clinician trained in donor recipient consultations
Basics of Incorporating Sandtray Therapy into Your Clinical Practice

Sandtray therapy is an expressive arts and play therapy modality that can be used with individuals of all ages. It's a wonderful tool that facilitates processing of trauma, grief and multiple mental health struggles. Learn the basics of setting up a sandtray collection, introducing sandtray to clients and ways to process sandtray content with clients. This training has some experiential sandtray prompt ideas. In this training, there is discussion of using for a perinatal mental health population, but the intro training is applicable to all populations.
Objectives:
- Identify ways to introduce clients to sandtray;
- Learn basic miniature categories various sandtray setups;
- Discuss common themes in sandtray and ways to document client sandtray work and progress;
- Explore multiple ways to facilitating processing of sandtray with clients;
- Practice some sandtray prompts through building of personal sandtrays.
